Algorithmic Governance.
Last Updated: January 2026. This statement details how Ascent designs, deploys, and audits artificial intelligence models to ensure unbiased, non-discriminatory, and transparent candidate evaluation.
Human-in-the-Loop Always
AI match scores and summaries act strictly as recommendations. No candidate is ever rejected, shortlisted, or hired solely by an automated algorithm.
Zero Protected Attribute Scoring
Our matching algorithms explicitly ignore protected characteristics including gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, marital status, and disabilities.
Zero Model Training on Customer Data
Customer resumes, notes, and rate cards are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve public AI foundation models.
Algorithmic Audit Transparency
Compliant with NYC Local Law 144 (AEDT) and the EU AI Act High-Risk AI System transparency guidelines.
1. Objective Skill-Based Evaluation Mechanics
The Ascent Match-Score engine operates by extracting objective criteria from Job Descriptions (e.g., programming languages, certifications, minimum years of relevant domain experience) and calculating mathematical cosine similarity against declared skills in a candidate's resume. Subjective factors, demographic inferences, or historical proxy variables are strictly excluded from the scoring prompt architecture.
2. Compliance with NYC Local Law 144 & EU AI Act
In accordance with New York City Local Law 144 on Automated Employment Decision Tools (AEDT) and the European Union AI Act regulations for employment systems:
- Ascent provides explicit notices to candidates that automated tools are utilized to assist human recruiters in reviewing candidate skills.
- Candidates may request information regarding the specific criteria and job description attributes evaluated during matching.
- The tool functions strictly as an assistive recommendation utility and does not enforce automated filtering barriers without human oversight.
3. Complete Employer Responsibility for Hiring Decisions
Ascent and Legion Hiresoft India Private Limited disclaim all liability for employment determinations, candidate selections, interviews, offer terms, or rejections made by recruitment agencies or employer organizations. The Customer organization acts as the sole employer/evaluator and warrants that all employment practices conform strictly to local, state, and national labor laws (including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, EEOC regulations, and national labor standards).
